Speakers:  Leslie Pardo and Alan Upchurch of Marx Layne & Company

The goal of this session is to educate our members on steps to take to respond to a crisis at their centers. News spreads quickly in today's internet age, and having a plan in place to limit exposure and minimize the news cycle will help our members protect themselves and get their message out during difficult times.

Session will include:

  • A media overview handbook for each participant to keep including brief summaries of print, radio, TV, Internet and social media. Each medium has distinct characteristics. It’s important that these variables are discussed and understood by your association members who may work directly with the media in a crisis situation.

  • Exercises in message development. Preparation is the key to successful media interaction. We will assist crisis management training session participants in identifying and developing the key messages that are critical in a news interview.

  • Simulated interviews, developed in conjunction with you, and designed to mirror real-life circumstances for Bowling Centers Association of Michigan members. These allow the crisis management training session participants to experience much of what occurs during a media interview.

  • Each interview will be played back for review and critique in the group setting. We’ve found that this collaborative atmosphere enhances the learning experience for all participants.

12:30pm - 2:00pm: Afternoon Session - Using the Power of Facebook to Generate Revenue and Engage with Customers

Speaker: Rich Kenny, Owner of ForestView Lanes in Temperance, MI

This session will focus mainly on Facebook with a brief overview of the other main social media platforms. Rich has doubled the size of his business in four years using the power of social media. Rich will walk through everything you need to know to build a robust Facebook presence, using real world examples from his own bowling center, starting with the basics and moving through more advanced topics. 

Rich is a social media expert, having taught classes to Fortune 500 companies in his previous career, and then using it to grow his own business after purchasing ForestView Lanes in 2014. Come and learn bowling specific tactics from one of our own BCAM members, and leave with the tools to grow your own business and engage with your customers online.
